Phillip, re the kernel, believe it's just a choice of the current Next (old Mach) or the latest Mach from C-M, which may be the one Apple used for their Linux port. They hope to continue a monolithic OS and would lose the current Next unix/x86 base if Rapsody went with one of the other choices.

Re OS/2, I ran x86 Warp at the time, so closely followed the saga of the unfinished port to the PPC. They wanted to rewrite x86 OS/2 from scratch using the Mach kernal, but don't think they did--at least not well. <G> (They never formally released PPC OS/2, but would give the brave a part # if they begged to order it.)
