It's that time again. Recent monthly short interest numbers:

Dec 15: 1,035,204

Nov 13: 256,964

Average Daily Volume: 704,381

Change (%): 302.860%

Before you call your broker, VRSN at COB 12/15 was $49.25, which even considering today's rout, represents a 29% gain. Whoever made this bet has probably covered by now.
