My biggest problem with RCN is related to hick-ups in customer service.   Like the old MFS, they hit their target markets and realize their anticipated penetration rates (or so we are led to believe), but sometimes the little customers lose out on all the promises of a great--and cheaper--future.   I know this mostly through personal experience as one of the first, medium-sized business customer of MFS Intellinet, and as a personal --home-- customer of RCN.

By the time MFS [almost] got my account figured out they were gone.   RCN seems to have solved the early, colossal billing errors on my home account and they're still here, so, perhaps there's hope.

I do use 3 of the 4 categories of RCN services McCourt mentions.   RCN bought Interport, my good ol' ISP, and I use their local and LD (precisely because I'm an investor in LVLT).

Cable?   No.   But I did receive a welcome package from their cable people after I ordered an additional phone line a few weeks ago, so, they may have me listed for cable.   My existing cable company ought to get a kick out the "$25 off next month's cable" certificate I'll be sending in courtesy of RCN's sharp marketing crew. <G>
