re: Stock split legalisms
As of Dec 2 1,579,044,305 (1.6 billion) shares were outstanding and 2.7 billion were authorized. The 1.6 billion is a key number to remember, so that you can go to sleep at night calculating the capitalization at the day's close. The 2.7 billion is a good number to remember because it means there isn't going to be any 2/1 split until we get together and approve an increase in authorized shares -- say to 4 billion (although, personally, I would go for 5 billion -- it costs not a penny more). While you're trying to drop off, you might also calculate that there are plenty of authorized but unissued (1.1 billion shares) to give us another 3/2 split any time. That would leave only 300 million shares in the shopping cart. IMO pass on the 3/2. I would hate not to have stock in pocket if FORE, Ascend, or Nortel (or some East European country) became available. I wouldn't touch Chechnya or the Sanjak of Novi-Bazaar, but would really like to get Estonia or Slovenia inside if available (more than FORE! -- can you imagine having jach* thrown in or having to be granted a very small golden parachute!). Wonderful manners. Great charm. So-so food. Really good-looking girls, though; I've seen 'em with and without their dirndls: good brains, great hair, and truly creative manual dexterity. Fabulous places for a fab, a lab, or a test and assembly shop, or just to vacation in. |
