Intel may sell some Inktomi, CNET common shares

December 28, 1998 04:28 PM

WASHINGTON, Dec 28 (Reuters) - Computer chip maker Intel Corp. INTC may sell about $18.3 million worth of Inktomi Corp.'s INKT common shares and about $4 million of CNET Inc.'s CNWK shares, recent SEC documents showed.

Intel proposed selling 127,500 shares of Inktomi, a San Mateo, Calif.-based Internet search and software company, for about $18.3 million around Dec. 21, according to Intel filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission.

And it may have sold 65,000 shares of San Francisco-based Internet company CNET for about $4 million around the same date.

Intel disclosed its proposed sales on Form 144 regulatory filings, which show an intention to sell stock but do not obligate a sale. Those documents also sometimes show shares that have already been sold.

It was not immediately known if the proposed sales took place. A telephone call to Santa Clara, Calif.-based Intel was not immediately returned, but an Intel filing showed that the company sold 21,000 Inktomi shares on Dec. 18 for $2.8 million.

Intel beneficially owned 5.4 percent, or 801,253 shares, of CNET as of April 10, according to CNET's proxy filed on April 30 with the SEC.

Intel's stake in Inktomi was not immediately known.
