Edwarda, I was gonna get to it, but got side tracked, then the other post came up and I decided to poke my nose into the conversation briefly.
No, all the Jack London's I have had have been fine. Though I have has bad bottles of other wines before.
One that has disappointed me on a number of occasions is the Neibaum-Coppola, Rubicon. I picked up a case of the '86 about 5 years ago, and have not enjoyed it all that much. Might have been the way the merchant stored it, I don't know. However, one good way to combat that is to buy upon release, and cellar them yourself.
It doesn't cost as much as most people think, and likely you will save the money that you spend on the appreciation cost of such wines.
Plus, it's really a beautiful thing to go hang out there and just lick your chops while caressing a coveted bottle thinking of the day it will be opened.
But if you do go ahead with a cellar, do it right. The most important thing is a reliable cooling unit(if you don't have a root cellar with dirt floors- this is the problem with new houses, while very efficient, they are built to keep moisture out of the basement, thus drying out the corks, and producing too much temperature fluxuation to properly store your gems.)
