While I agree with Jim that talking about Rambus on a Buffett thread is akin to discussing gambling in church, I have to concede that Rambus is an interesting story. I have owned Intel for a number of years now and since the management has multiplied my original investment 25 fold, I trust their judgement. [A Buffett thing to do]. However at the levels of today, price is becoming an overriding consideration.

You mention that they have the “standard” in the industry. Unfortunately standards in high-tech mean very little sometimes. It is the remarkable exceptions like Microsoft and Intel that lure in the suckers. Unfortunately these are few and far between. While I believe the future is good for them, I am out of Rambus at these prices.
