Well, I gave in and just bought a slug more. Sure, it would be nice to wait until it starts moving back up again, but the action seems to indicate that we are getting ready for a big move up. I could wake up one morning at a normal hour here on the west coast and find THQI up $2 or more.
It seems that we have one big seller at 28, but once that institution moves aside, we should fly. Why? Huge sales. I assume those IBD rankings are from the weekly TRSTS figures. Essentially, in the biggest video game month in history, Rugrats is the sixth best seller overall. This is a high margin format and I assume that the royalty is similar to THQ's WCW license. Ie, a good deal for THQI. Meanwhile, despite a lack of availability, Revenge is still top ten.
Great channel checks keep rolling in. Hell, one store even sold five copies of K-1 in three days before Christmas. Ie, everything is moving. And now the stores are full of kids still looking for THQ's big four titles. In the meantime, CompUSA is really pushing WCW Nitro PC this weekend.
Seems that WCW Thunder is ready to go. Why wait until the eleventh? Put it out now. A respected poster speculated to me that it is being offered now in a stealth manner in order to be on strong legal ground vis a vis the WCW expiration date. In any case, THQ has another six months to sell WCW games and I still expect WCW Nitro 64 to be published next year.
Btw, Haines is indeed back in and his last posted comment was something like "THQ will be $55 by next December" based on a 20 PE.
