AOL will gain access to those surfers who presently subscribe to other ISPs & who use Netscape as their browser.

How? A browser doesn't change your ISP selection. People tend to stay with the ISP they have. Your argument has to go to new subscribers like I said in my earlier post. If NSCP is losing share, the new subscribers will be declining in expectation for returns. Assume NSCP is constant. The new browser from AOL through NSCP won't garner new subscribers at a rate any faster than they would already get them. I thought my comments earlier were clear. You are a making a categorical error here in mixing ISPs and browsers.

I can make an argument for AOL's move, but it has little or nothing to do with what you've stated. The argument I have is simply what AOL said, although I can take to a further degree in that AOL will have to give up what they have in mind and do something close to what I would suggest. Else they got got a pile of hungry mouths that they will have to dump at fire sale. To MSFT!
