I work with a lot of solvents - and ether is my favorite. It has a crisp fresh aroma which never seems to get old.
I got pretty toasted on ether once - but not like with chloroform.
A buddy has a dead serious NIDA monograph titled "Voluntary Inhalation of Industrial Solvents". It appears the lowest of the low on the totem pole of druggies are those who get high on gasoline. They just didn't care about the lead, either. (Old book.)
