What 'feeling' could one get from buying a book from Amazon instead of B&N?

I could see paying for the convenience of buying a book at, lets say, Walmart since I'm already there and it will be an inconvience to go to B&N, but I don't have that barrier with the internet. And since B&N will own Ingrams, and Ingram is one of Amazon's suppliers, well, a shipment does get 'lost' now and again ;-)
