Chip, business is business, the kid may be smart and creative but he knew what he was doing. Glide belongs to TDFX and TDFX has a competitive advantage which they need to protect. IMO TDFX can't do enough to shut this down early and hard - "Microsoftian" would be too easy in my book. Software developers tend to be very libertarian when it comes to openness and creative liberties. Microsoft juggernaut bugs them to no end. However, these same developers would freak if their "intelectual property" was stolen or disadvantaged by the acts of others. I would love to see TDFX monopolize 3D as an investor, both from a theoretical reap your rewards point of view and from a TDFX stockholder perspective. I also understand the flip side from a consumer point of view but in the end I think it is more important to protect developers to ensure the profit motive continues - similar to the protections given drug discoveries, etc. to ensure that good work gets rewarded. If people want to give away their work, that's their decision but when food on the table is on the line - no action to protect that is too harsh. Joe C. P.S. The same people that would argue the wrapper is harmless have probably also argued that Glide is dead. We'll see what happens when Rampage introduces new features that only Glide can support ;)
