Here is the latest news on ISDI's newest products:

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 29, 1996--ISD (Information Storage Devices, Inc.),(NASDAQ:ISDI), a leading supplier of semiconductor voice record and playback solutions, today announced two
additions to its ChipCorder product line: the ISD25120 and ISD1112.

"These additions to ISD's single-chip, nonvolatile voice products enable our customers to continue to upgrade and differentiate their products with longer recording durations than currently offered in the ISD2500 and ISD1100 product lines at no additional cost," said David Angel, president and CEO of ISD.

The ISD25120, an extension to the ISD2500 series, offers two minutes of record and playback capabilities on a single chip. The ISD25120 addresses the needs of products that require multiple minutes of storage including tapeless pocket recorders, home message centers and announcement products, such as point-of-sale displays.

Like other products in the ISD2500 series, it can also be "cascaded" for even longer durations. To date, products in the ISD2500 series offered durations of 60, 75 and 90 seconds.

The ISD25120, offering 33 percent longer record and playback capabilities than the previous longest duration, is pin-compatible and currently available at the same price as other chips in the ISD2500 series: $8.95 in die form and $10.50 in PDIP packaging for 50,000 piece quantities.

The ISD1112 is a single message record/playback chip that provides up to 12 seconds of record time, a 20 percent increase in duration over the ISD1110, at the same cost. The ISD1112 is designed for products such as picture frames, keychains, pens, watches, and other products requiring an easy-to-integrate, low-cost record/playback function.

This product is currently available at $2.35 in die form, or $3.50 in PDIP packaging, for 50,000 piece quantities. These two products are now available through ISD's worldwide network of sales offices, representatives and distributors.

ChipCorder Technology

ISD's patented ChipCorder technology enables a single-chip solution for voice recording and playback in a variety of consumer, communications and industrial applications. It uses a proprietary "multilevel" storage methodology in which one of more than 250 distinct voltage levels are precisely stored per memory cell.

This provides approximately eight times more storage space for any given memory size than the alternative two-level, digital storage technology. ChipCorder technology enables voice and audio signals to be stored directly in their natural form into nonvolatile EEPROM memory cells, eliminating the need for external A/D and D/A circuits.

This delivers a single-chip, solid-state solution that requires no software, unlike other alternatives which are more difficult to integrate.

Furthermore, ChipCorder technology offers high-quality, voice reproduction because the voice signal is stored in its direct form and not encoded or compressed. It is the only single-chip, non-volatile voice solution available. Recorded messages are retained after batteries wear out. ChipCorder devices can be recorded and re-recorded reliably over 100,000 times.

To date, ChipCorder technology has been incorporated into hundreds of products, including cellular phones, pagers, personal voice organizers, telephone answering devices, voice "message pads," greeting cards, games, toys, interactive books, alarms, point-of-sale displays, novelty items and personalized gifts.

It is also found in industrial announcement/annunciator systems, instrumentation, and building security systems.

- Additional info. on ISDI:

Last month ISDI announced that they have leveraged their expertise in mutilevel EEPROM analog storage technology and demonstrated a 4x mutilevel digital EPROM storage device. This device (or chip when manufactured) can store 4-times of digital information on a single storage cell vs. the 0/1 storage of a regular EPROM storage cell. This represents a significant increase in the density of EPROM storage.

This is a positive development and it means that ISDI will be able to apply its techonology in conventional digital EPROM market and diversify its product lines. ISDI management is very optimistic about the prospect for the possibility of new revenue source and I am too.

GO ISDI!
