AMZN will likely be down again when the mkt opens. AOL was already down after mkt more than 3$, see news below. Next Monday maybe the black Monday for AMZN as many have been waiting to delay their profits; and also with their additional two shares that they want to get rid off from split. imo.

Despite wide gains by some retailers announcing new websites, technology stocks went nowhere Tuesday. But the Dow Jones Industrial Average, powered by blue-chips, leapt ahead.
The Dow soared 94.23 points to 9320.98 and the Nasdaq eked out a 0.88 gain to end the day at 2181.18.
Telecommunications stocks were an exception to the technology slump. WorldCom [WCOM] was the third most actively traded stock on the Nasdaq, advancing 2 5/16 to 74 1/4, AT&T [T] added 4 3/16 to 78 13/16 and Sprint [FON] closed up 3/16 at 84 3/16.
Among local phone carriers, Bell Atlantic [BEL] climbed 1 7/16 to 59 3/4, BellSouth [BLS] rose 2 1/4 to 48 1/2 and SBC [SBC] inched up 1/2 to 54 1/8.
Major names in Internet retailing were conspicuously absent from the Nasdaq most actives list. Instead, companies announcing plans to sell on the Web attracted investors, with Value Vision [VVTV] adding 5 1/8 to 11 3/8, G-III Apparel [GIII] jumping 6 3/4 to 8 7/8 and SkyMall [SKYM] advancing 5 3/16 to 40 3/4.
But Amazon.com [AMZN] slid 19 5/8 to 332 5/16 and CDnow [CDNW] fell 1 1/16 to 21 5/8. Online auctioneer uBid [UBID] climbed 3 9/16 to 143 1/2.
Super-cap technology stocks lost ground. Intel [INTC], which said it will cut prices on its processors next week, fell 1 1/16 to 121 1/16, Dell [DELL] slipped 3/16 to 74 9/16 and Cisco [CSCO] closed down 11/16 at 93 1/2. CS First Boston initiated coverage on Fore Systems [FORE] with a buy rating, but the stock fell 2 13/16 to 15 7/8.
Synopsys [SNPS] lost 1/4 to 52 1/16 despite Soundview Financial's initiation of coverage with a buy rating.
In after-market trading on the New York Stock Exchange, America Online [AOL] fell 3 1/4 to 154, and Compaq [CPQ] lost 11/16 to 41 11/16. Cadence Design [CDN] slipped 1/8 to 27 1/2 despite a buy rating from Soundview. |
