So I am not relishing the idea of of getting back into my new 401K and not being able to manage the money, but the benefits of a 401K far out weigh not contributing in order to mange your money, i.e., company match, tax defered, etc...

Leave your old 401k money in the Schwab account and just put new money into the new 401k. Like you said, the advantages are too good to pass up but you won't get any matching on rolled-over money so why roll it back in to a 401k?
