coby, the option itself is a security. notice that tomasso is talking about the bid and the ask of his option at the close being different than when he bought it. it is quoted very much like a stock is. so he can sell it, like he can sell a stock. and that is what happens with most options that are profitable: they are sold rather than exercised.
