TV news coverage. Another difference between US and Canadian coverage. Not long ago, those interviews on the US networks all started the same way- "How long can this irrational rise in Internet stock prices continue?" Then, they began to change tone. More often than not, now they discuss a fundamental change in shopping patterns. Canadian shows (IMO) still mention the sector as though it's a surprise that the prices haven't gone in the tank yet. P/E ratios are always highlighted. P/E ratio of 1000, or can't be calculated because of a lack of earnings. Let's not forget that this is a new and emerging industry. Coke & GM earnings aren't going to grow at 100 or 200 percent over the next year. Some of these internet related stocks may see that and more. These incredible P/E ratios will quickly drop to more rational numbers if/when the earnings side kicks in.
