Tero loves to focus on the relatively short talk and standby times for the Q phone. But he is comparing apples with oranges. Those who buy the Q realize that they are trading standby and talk time for the convenience of the small size. The Q-1900 phone is rated at 1.5 hours talk time and up to 20 hours standby time with the standard battery, 2 hours talk and 30 hours standby with the extended battery. The Q-800 is rated at 1.5 hours talk and 20 hours standby with the regular battery and 2 hours talk and up to 34 hours standby with the extended battery. By comparison, the MOT cdma StarTac is rated at up to 170 minutes (2.8 hours) talk time and up to 15-100 hours standby time (a very wide and suspicious range). The MOT StarTac 3000 as well as the 6500, two 800mhz. analog models are rated to get only 1 hour of talk time and 14 hours standby time! Check it out on MOT's website. It seems to me that in a head-to-head competition of small-sized phones, the Q compares rather favorably and is not at any great disadvantage. While the times are relatively short in comparison to the "bricks", I like the convenience factor of the size. Moreover, by buying two standard batteries (two come with the set when you buy the phone) and using the cigarette charger when you drive, it is rare that I ever run out of battery power.
