Mary, >>>"Without Xeon this
company would be a basket case," Peck says. "They are charging $1,000
apiece for it.

HeLLO? This is called the computer Information Technology business - the
business that is at the heart of America's competitiveness.<<<

Couple of comments about Peck:

1. Basket case? The only thing you can say about that remark that makes any sense is that he is just trying to get attention. This is like saying IBM would be a basket case without System 390. Hmmm.

2. >>>But it's a brand-new product serving a brand-new market about
which we know nothing."<<<

Giving the guy credit for at least a Celeron brain (no PII like Homer) maybe he means Xeon is serving the NT workstation/server market, rather than the overall IT market. Still, he could do some research in the NT vs. Unix, etc. markets and come up with comments on the cost, stability, RAS, etc. issues around that. How can an analyst say he knows nothing about something in an area in which he's supposedly an "expert." I give up. Peck is a dolt.

Happy New Year Mary,

Tony
