No doubt. Nevertheless, that's awfully thin gruel. I have no pity for an investor that loses money when his investment decision is based on the interpretation of a split as an incremental signal of confidence from management if he was otherwise neutral on the stock.

Also, while it may signal confidence that a crash isn't imminent, splits these days seem to be nicely timed to take the sting out of news that might distract the bulls. BKS buys Ingram: let's split AMZN. INTC selling a pretty sizeable piece of INKT: that's make a nice time for a split, too. And the most annoying thing is, it works.
