Its a big tax loss, also funds won't want it seen on end-of-month
report, etc. etc. So generally the market laggards lag more and the
winners (whose sale before January creates a taxable gain) stay ahead.

CEO/CFO whoever it was stated he wouldn't consider takeover at current level of stock price. "With stock in single digits". Moves made
were intended to accelerate breakeven date, but they wouldn't quantify if it really advanced the nominal target, mid-2000.
