If I look at the link you provided, and if I'm reading it correctly,

...it's estimated that by the end of '98 they will have 100 route miles completed.
It also suggests that they will have some 4 k-miles complete by the end of '99. Hardly a drop in the bucket by then.
And true, they will put in a total of 15 k-miles by the end of 2001. But they are not putting it in now, least-wise they are not making it available at this time or any time soon.
OTOH, they are bidding on some very large bandwidth deals right now. They will acquire this b-w for resale, sell it very cheap, gaining footholds in new accounts, hence in a way making them a supplier of bandwidth to users, as I've suggested upstream.... through resale. Further to this, they may gain additional bandwidth through acquisitions in the future.
In 2002, they may become a top stock in the effort to unclog the 'net's bottlenecks, but they aren't doing that today, or even next year. That was my point. Regards, Frank C. |
