I've been trying very hard to eke out something from what you've said since you seem reticent about it. I admit it is difficult to make someone else's argument when there is no argument to make. Your argument is all based on the Thrasymachean angle. You think that AOL with all their presumably smart people wouldn't blow $n billions on a completely vapid stratagem. That is your only argument. Big money is right. It is so laughably wrong it just goes to underscore that you are fooled by the image of power. Can't make it in this business that way.

Since I think this is important, I will continue trying to invent some reason for this absurd purchase beyond what I've already said. That was that Case has made this move unilaterally because of ego considerations. Your "portal" arguments are hollow. There is no financial substance in what you claim. It's all superfluous image. It isn't even goodwill or branding. AOL has swallowed a massive expense with little to show for it. If you can't see that, you don't know these two companies, their business orientations, and financials.
