Mirage Inc. Chairman Steve Wynn to Update Bellagio Performance At American Gaming, Lodging & Leisure Summit
Hotel and Casino Chief to Discuss Year-End Results
LAS VEGAS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 30, 1998-- Mirage Resorts, Incorporated (NYSE: MIR - news) Chairman and CEO Stephen A. Wynn will be the keynote speaker at the 1999 American Gaming, Lodging & Leisure Summit to be held January 12 and 13 at the Bellagio Hotel in Las Vegas. In his January 12 address the Mirage Resorts Chairman will discuss the 1998 operating performance of Bellagio, the Mirage Resorts Incorporated property that opened with great fanfare in October. Bellagio is one of the most lavishly appointed hotel and casino resort properties in the world. Mr. Wynn will also receive the Summit's prestigious Lifetime Achievement Award. Past winners include Barron Hilton of Hilton Hotels Corp., Chuck Mathewson of IGT and Perry Thomas of Thomas & Mack Co.
Scheduled to speak on the morning of January 12 are co-keynote speakers Kay Coles James, chair of the National Gambling Impact Study Commission, and Frank Fahrenkopf, president of the American Gaming Association (AGA). The Gambling Commission, created by federal law, has a two-year mandate to study and report upon the economic, social and other effects of gaming in the United States. Having concluded the hearing phase of its work, the panel is set to deliberate and prepare a report to Congress. Based in Washington, D.C., the AGA is the gaming industry's trade association that disseminates information on the casino industry. Mr. Fahrenkopf is the former chairman of the Republican National Committee during the Ronald Reagan years.
