>>It has taken the south over 100 years to finally see that it is the republican party, the party of closure and shall we say not as receptive to racial inclusion as the democrats, to reflect their values of conservatism exclusion.<<

It is the Republican Party, the party of inclusion by the way, that has recruited and developed the kinds of minority and female candidates that are likely to be attractive to a broad segment of the electorate, and thus "Presidential". The Democrat Party's liberal prescription of cradle to grave dependency on government largesse has been a long run drag on the ability of minorities and women to advance. The viable minority candidates for National office, Colin Powell, JC Watts, Alan Keyes are Republicans. With the possible exception of Diane Feinstein, I don't see any females in the Democratic Party that are likely to develop National constituencies sooner than say Elizabeth Dole, Christie Whitman, Jeanne Kirkpatrick or Linda Chavez.
