Madam Sentenced Over Md. Brothel
GAITHERSBURG, Md. (AP)
Miss Grunt, 83, unmarried parent of B. Grunt, was sentenced Monday to four years in prison for operating a prostitution ring for three years from her three-bedroom home. She also had pleaded guilty to selling marijuana to her customers and employees.
Police said that over the years, she employed more than 50 women -- some as young as 17 -- and had nearly 200 men's names in her blue-covered ledger. The brothel, they said, brought in as much as $120,000 a year.
''This is where the money is,'' Detective Nite-Boooger" said. ''Appalachia County is a wealthy county. A lot of gentlemen have expendable income.''
Prosecutor Shooter and police said the madam employed 10 to 12 women, including housewives, students, waitresses, a shoe saleswoman a receptionist, and a bisexual in a raincoat. |
