MB, FWIW, Fairfax County claims that all of its major computer systems are Y2K compliant, e.g., police, fire, ambulances, etc., and the rest will be by March. Montgomery County, Maryland, another bedroom community for DC metro area, says pretty much the same, they tested recently and it went OK. So, I have my fingers crossed.

I think I posted before, my brother-in-law, the Cobol programmer, who works for a temp firm in Chicago area, no longer has any Y2K stuff to do, and is now being sent on other assignments. He has recently worked at CBOT and Chicago Housing Authority, but that's all done now. He says that his temp firm intends to put him in cryogenic suspension and bring him back for the Y10K problem.<g>
