I myself don't really see competition from FORE or ASND in CSCC's core market (infrastructure level Frame/ATM). I have also visited FORE and they don't really have any focus or intent to focus on telco/ISP markets, their systems are tailored towards small to medium sized private networks for providing ATM to desktop (also Alantec group of course does switching but complementary to private network market). They themselves don't really consider themselves to be competing against CSCC at this point. Maybe in future if FORE risks move into public network or CSCC tries for large private networks. My take is that ASND's new market thrust is specifically against CSCO in high end router customers such as ISP's (TNT stuff etc.).

My general thinking is that CSCC revenues/earnings will basically reflect how much they were able to move out the door for the Q. At this point they basically compete only with StrataCom in their core biz and I don't believe that StrataCom has been able to take customers from CSCC. A number of other guys came out with public frame/ATM products maybe 2 - 3 years ago and ate a lot of dust (even Tellabs, who probably had the best shot).

My take on ASND earnings is that it shows continuing robust buying in this general arena, which should continue to auger well for CSCC. I think they should exceed. But what do I know anyway...
