Hello Bill and All,
TA is like a train ride. You try to get on board at a nice steady station and stay on the train until it pulls into the next stop UP the line... By using the charts and various systems we try to figure out WHERE the stations are and WHEN it's safe to jump on board... There are many times when the train can get DERAILED and PLUMMIT down the MOUNTAIN! In these cases we try to JUMP OFF THE TRAIN as soon as possible.
Let's look at an example. If you look at the NZYM Train line it will all start to clear up. Let's see what we can learn. The NZYM train line has multiple lines and schedules but we will only talk about two of them. Their destination was the same BUT the route and schedule were different. The first ride on the NZYM was on the DNS LINE. It's destination was Station $13.87 leaving from Station $1.94 on 2/13/95. Now the funny thing about these train lines is you never know the final destination BUT you know the direction you want to go. Once you board the train and you see it's going in the wrong direction, it's up to YOU to get off..... You can buy various road maps BUT they are not totally sure of the destination either. They are guessing based on past commuter's experiences with these trains... OK so we boarded the NZYM DNS line on 2/13/95 at station $1.94 and took off for destinations unknown.
The first stop was station $4.00 on 8/4/95 and a lot of people got on board because this was where DNS first advertised it's new train. We arrived at our first legitimate exit stop on 10/5/95 and it was station $4.37. Along the way we passed many stations that were not on our map. DNS slowed down BUT never stopped at these stations. I saw station $4.62 on 8/14/95 and station $4.87 on 9/5/95 BUT DNS never stopped to let me off. Yes, there were times when I thought about jumping off the train BUT I realized that if I did my DNS Investment Insurance would be null and void so I stayed on the train. Besides, I wasn't sure if I'd know HOW to get home from there anyway...
The NZYM train next stopped at a DNS station on 10/23/95. It was station $4.69 and I saw many of my old commuter friends on board. We still didn't know our final destination BUT we did know we were going up a steep hill. The next day we passed station $5.00 and the day after that we passed station $5.25. We started going down the hill until we stopped at DNS exit station $4.75 on 11/10/95.
The NZYM train was chugging along for a while before it stopped at a DNS station. There were a few peeks and valleys until sure enough a DNS station appeared. It was station $5.12 and we arrived on 2/8/96. I had a funny feeling about this stop because a lot more people got on board then usual. Something told me that this was going to be a LONG RIDE!!!
We started off going up what I thought was a huge hill. I remember thinking I should JUMP OFF the train now because we passed station $5.50 just two days after we started the trip... I wonder what it is in us that keeps us thinking that way.. Well, I fought that crazy feeling and boy am I glad I did... We went through some flatland and hill, flatland and hills until before I knew it we were pulling into DNS Exit station $7.62 and it was already 6/21/96. We passed many old stations along the way and I was VERY CLOSE to jumping ship at a few of them. In fact, at one point we passed station $10.00 which was always a fantasy of mine. I remember dreaming about station $10.00 and wondering if the NZYM train would EVER GO THERE.
At this point in the trip I had mixed feelings about my journey and needed something to calm my nerves. That something turned out to be my old friends FIB and GANN. They just happened to have copies of some old road maps of the NZYM lines that they weren't using and offered them to me... I jumped at the offer and was amassed at what I found... They had EVERY STATION the NZYM train had passed for the last year or so plotted out in a nice neat sequence for me to examine. They suggested I link up the 3/17/95 low of Station $2.00 with the 5/17/96 high of Station $11.00 to set my course. I used their GANN Fan, Fib Retracement and Speed & Resistance Lines and was amassed at what I saw. Their map suggested that the NZYM train would be passing the $6.50, $750 and $9.00 Stations with multiple stops along the way. I was not sure if I totally believed what I was seeing but I remember talking to one of the Conductors and he told me that there was a lot of Local traffic in those areas so we might have to do some local commutes before we could finally be on our way to the final destination. I decided to sit tight and watch the train and wait until it pulled into a safe DNS stop. Finally, after what seemed like ages, the NZYM train pulled into a safe DNS entry stop on 11/13/96. It was station $7.75 and I for one was raring to go. I noticed that the train was only half full so I stopped the conductor and asked him what happened to all the commuters. He told me that most of them refused to get off at the last safe stop . He said they INSISTED he let them continue on the train EVEN THOUGH their tickets clearly stated DNS.... He told me that most of them got so impatient and frustrated they jumped off around the $7.50 Stations. He said that the train HAD TO SLOW DOWN because of the hills that were in front of it. He assured me that this was no longer a problem because we were passed the $7.50 Station and the severe hills would not appear until we got near station $9.00. I took a quick look at my FIB, GANN maps and just had to agree with him.
Well, it's now 1/22/96 and I just passed the $12.50 Station. I'm not sure where or when I'll pull into a safe DNS exit station BUT I can tell you one thing for sure.. This has been one hell of a train ride.........
