Mike, cable modems are appropriate for Pay Per View but will NEVER cut it for Internet access. Nobody has fixed the security problems and the fact that bandwidth deteriorates based on the number of people using the trunk is a well known problem. As you MUST know, the cable trunk is shared by multiple users in the same vicinity. I for one live in a building with 640 apartments in NYC and am not looking forward to any of those 640 people tapping into my transmisions.

The alliance with Microsoft as a poor attempt from Microsoft to sell the NT as the NOS for Internet access.

ADSL/DMT is NOT a "one way" solution. Do your homework before you make stupid comments. The upstream is slower than the downstream and that will be a problem if you were to send upstream your homemade Movie, but trust me nobody wants to watch. The upstream (slow) of ADSL/DMT is still at 640Kbs, which is hell of a lot faster than ISDN at 128Kbs.

Yes, the cable modems will sell to couch Ps who want to watch more TV than they can today!
