Clinton got caught since he chose to perjure and obstruct investigation in court. If he hadn't been arrogant and just admitted it, not much would have happened. You might try running that excuse by your friendly neighborhood police officer next time you get stopped. Considering that the Clintons don't have much of a reputation to protect, I don't see why they lie. Everyone knows they're scumbags. Just admit it and move on.
