I personally favor (a). When you have a group of extremists that are probably at 25%, or less of the population, controlling 100% of a political party, you have a recipe for disaster. Brings to mind visions of the "Taliban". (sp?)

New parties are not necessarily the answer...witness the many countries that have so many parties..... that nothing gets done.

On second thought, not so different from what is happening now?
