Looks like Pat must have enemies in Australia. Sydney, to be exact.

It's likely you can have the sender's account terminated, if you complain to OzEmail. They should have sufficient log information to identify the sender.

But if Australian laws are similar to U.S. law, they won't tell you who it is without a court order.

This was no great technical feat. It appears that they simply changed the return e-mail address in their browser. Anybody can do this. However, most ISPs now force the IP address of the sender (in this case, probably a dial-up port - but they should have records of who was on the port at the time it was sent) to foil this simple spoof.

The Australian origin would explain the spelling.
