Geerlings & Wade, Inc. Announces New Internet Plan
CANTON, Mass., Dec. 31 /PRNewswire/ -- Geerlings & Wade, Inc. (Nasdaq: GEER - news; geerwade.com) today announced two developments with respect to the Company's Internet plans. Mr. Jay Essa, President of the Company, reported ''in response to numerous inquiries from market observers, we are taking the unusual step of providing some details about our Internet plans. First, we have selected Hill, Holliday to help us improve our e-commerce website. As a result of encouraging e-commerce results during the fourth quarter of 1998, we have decided to embark on a project to make our website more friendly, easier to order from and provide access to purchase history for our customers. We expect completion of the project in mid-1999. Hill, Holliday's marketing and sales savvy, combined with its technical competence, make it a good choice for us.''
''Second, in an effort to improve our competitiveness on the high end of the wine selling business, we are adding hundreds of Bordeaux wines to our website in January 1999. This will give our customers one of the largest selections of Bordeaux wines from which to choose from anywhere in the country. Also, we will do this in a fashion that is designed to comply with state liquor laws.''
