Khan,

My understanding is that the Rio! uses Smart Media cards. Eli Harari stated that they (SNDK) are speaking with OEM's about the inclusion of their products (presumably MMC) into new mp3 player designs.

Siemens makes the ROM MMC and it is also called a ROS card. That stands for "Recorded On Silicon". These cards cannot be reformatted or duplicated and come in a package that resembles the packaging for a CD (jewel case). The literature I received indicated that some recording labels may transition from CD to ROS. This is apparently happening first in Europe.

MMC looks just like Smart Media except it has a cardboard reinforcement and it is a bit smaller.

If you have bought the Rio! you should know which media it is shipped with. Did anyone else out there by a Rio!?

Happy New Year,

Ausdauer
