We didn't see states of the US try to secede from the union when the US economy failed in the Great Depression. So I don't see the prospect of similar failure under the Euro. Of course the new Central Bank might screw up just like any other Central Bank. But I think you'd need to see a hyperinflation or the like before countries would risk pulling out. The solution to the problems caused by the Euro will be further integration not less of economic policy to compensate regions negatively affected by the Central Banks policies.
