Well, for one thing you keep talking about "The Market" and "Mr. Market," so I supposed that you think of it very different than I do, which is a concatenation of millions of individual transactions coincident in time, and to a lesser extent, place.

I don't deny that there is groupthink, but there are too many groups which coalesce and diverge too quickly to constitute one group at any given time.

The concept of "deserving" is one of ethics or justice. The market is a place where financial transactions occur. Each party to a transaction deserves ethical, just behavior from the other party. The marketplace does not "deserve" anything. It is simply a protective structure to facilitate the multitude of transactions which occur there.

People who ascribe human emotions and functions to places are irrational, at worst, and fanciful, at best.
