I don't want to talk past each other. I'm not sure I understand the nuances of what you are saying. A lot of what goes on on this thread, more so than on MB's thread is sound byte stuff.
The market "deserving" or whatever was something that Myth said and I echoed it. He would have to speak for himself, but what I thought he was saying was that Wall Street firms have marketed up a storm very successfully. I think we are overvalued here. The Street's comments these days seem to mostly, but not totally, lack the courage of saying "the emperor has no clothes" especially on internuts, but also on tech in general.
If a Joe Battipaglia just keeps saying over and over again, "Don't worry, be happy, buy stocks", that is something that irritates some of the people on this thread. It isn't just a matter of being right on a market call, it is a question of what is the thinking behind it.
Despite the sound-byte quality of posts on this thread, I believe that if a person really reads the thread thoroughly, there is tremendous content that is presented here. A lot of the posts are brief because people have to work for a living. I'm off today :-) so this is a long post.
But back to part of my earlier question, I wonder what you meant by don't act like you want vengence on the market. I have made a lot of money on this bull market. I am late to this bear party. I sympathize with people that were earlier than I, because I knew they were right that valuations were too high, but I think they underestimated the marketing effort that Wall Street had undertaken. People see their neighbors making money, etc. That's the kind of thing that makes momentum work in the short run.
But remember I, like MB, have longs, shorts, income plays, money markets, private holdings, etc. I would never jeopardize my financial health over principles, frustration, etc.
On the other hand, I am very apt to roll up a virtual towel and snap it at MythMan or MB or IceShark or Skeeter or Tip, or you. If this isn't fun and you can't make friends, then why bother? |
