RE:"You've basically got some college kid running benchmarks between history and biology exams and influencing a lot of people." ---- Anand is a 16 year old 11th grader... Certainly, most all these sites a heavy into games. Anands first K6-2-400 review only included Winstone 99, which appeared out of no where. He was BLASTED for it. With his tail between his legs he reposted benchmarks using Winstone 98, which showed the 400 faster than a P2-400. All he could say is "not bad". Since then he's given a more favorable review to AMD chips... Benchmarks are fine for Geeks but in the retail world, MHz sells. Even the question, "want are you going to use the computer for"?, is confusing. Reply..."I dunno, I've never had a computer, I want to get on the net". Salesman asks..."Do you want to play games"?, reply..."I dunno, never tried it, maybe, heck I dunno, I don't even know what this thing is capable of".... What the consumer can do is compare MHz, RAM, HD size, Modem speed etc....maybe DVD...CDrom speed etc.. Nice looking box means the components are better, eg Hewlett Packard....to a newbie.(We know that's a joke). Will a P-III be better than a P-II? Well, III is bigger than II and it's got something called Katmai, don't know if I need it but maybe I will later, and it runs at 500Mhz...wow, must be good...or so goes the thinking. K6-3? Well, 3 is better than 2 right...better get those Mhzs up AMD...
