thanx for your recent comments steven!
of course now that you've poked your head in here, again, it's time to barrage you with more ?'s :)

what do you think of intel's latest "security-enhancement" stuff for their future chipsets? little details are known, so far, but at the shareholders' meeting you mentioned that if they make cryptographic hardware ubiquitous that this was great because wavx isn't a hardware company. they are just designing hardware to reach their goal of being a content distribution system. so this is good for wavx. i've recently read a few more details about intel's stuff from TechWeb.
see: techweb.com

that article says things like:

The firmware hub is "basically a flash chip with locks on its read and write capabilities that can be opened using a cryptographic protocol," said another source briefed by Intel.

Hardware security functions include a cryptographic engine to authenticate digital certificates Intel or a third party could load in. The chip could hold multiple certificates, each with permission to grant specific features, such as to permit an operating system or an MPEG player to run. They would also ensure a software program licensed to one user was not copied and run on another machine, a common practice. In addition, the certificates will act like unique serial numbers, identifying a given machine in any Internet or corporate network transaction, sources said.

sounds a whole lot like embassy! do you guys have samples of this hardware? is our solution combatible? it would be great if wavx could work with intel on this so that our metering system would work on intel's platform, as well as the embassy.... if intel incorporates all this functionality soon, good things could happen :)

it would seem that the "firmware hub" with all these features from intel will be making its debut in 6/99. i get this from my favorite intel info source home1.swipnet.se

i would love to hear your comments...

marc ( a long-time long)
