FYI, the S&P 500 is a market cap weighted index. Thus, the bigger you are, the more you move the average. The top 50 in market cap (GE, MSFT, PFE, etc.) have more influence than the rest of the 450 stocks.

Adding AOL (with its huge market cap) will make the Index much more volitile than before.
