The rapidly growing activity over on the YAHOO! financial boards is probably swamping their ability to add hardware resources to keep pace. It's usually worse starting around 4pm EST, as people start to return home from work. The disappearing posts then reappear later on in the evening, or by the following morning. I can envision the YAHOO! support engineers installing new hard drive arrays every night just trying to keep up, while all the new posts are temporarily stored on publicly inaccessible storage drives. When they finish the install, they transfer over all the missing posts and open up the new hard drive real estate to YAHOO! posters. Or something like that. ;-)

It's frustrating, but perhaps YAHOO!'s troubles will encourage others to return here for discussion.

Of course, the minute I tried posting this, I got one of those rare and weird server error messages from Silicon Investor. Hope this gets posted!
