I have nothing against shorts.

If a short wants to go to the discussion thread of the stock he's shorted and point out the weaknesses of the stock that's fine - relevant points might refer to: poor business plan, low profit model, high marketing expenses compared to possible returns, lack of management experience, high debt ratio etc..... All supported by good evidence of course.

But to turn up and start insinuating that the directors of the company are engaged in criminal activities without providing supporting evidence is to engage in a smear campaign to take a stock down.
That shows a lack of moral fibre to me.

Or do you consider smear campaigns to be another weapon in the shorter's armoury?
