OT - Sorry...was squided and it would post here, but not on the Systems thread.

These difference sure are odd. I am beginning to think Pat's approach is correct. Go to the exchange and get the most recent stuff and use that...unfortunately that appears a day late.

My data for 12/30 shows 1332 adv and 1401 decl.
The data for 12/30 at the NYSE site shows 1230 adv and 1380 decl.

That is an -81 difference.

Well, it matters little. Right now the trend in the data is up that is clear. That doesn't mean we don't have a nice dip first and then a blast off and it doesn't mean we don't turn on a dime and go the other way either.

As with anything, I think some common sense has to play into the interpretation, unless you simply are going by a hard and fast rule and even GZ doesn't do that.

If you were to incorporate this into a system, then I would imagine the actual numbers would make a difference. But then how can you be sure the numbers you are using are right on for backtesting purposes.

Seems this one indicator may have a few holes in it for systems incorporation.

PS - Happy New Year! I was just squided so I had to post this over here. Can't get it to post on the Systems thread.
