Just got my Rio on Christmas Day as a present from my girlfriend. She ordered it via FedEX on Dec 23rd and it arrived on Dec 24th (Awesome efficiency & effectiveness) I loved the parallel interface since it required no additional slots, however It would have been nice to have an USB interface option. All the magazines note that this item is for "techies" however I found it extremely easy to install and i'm no techie, perhaps even computer illiterate. Can't wait till I get a tape adapter and play the MP3's in my car. I'm also happy that the Rio only uses 1 AA battery, so my NiMH AA digital camera batteries work with it. After listening to the Rio for a week now it still hasn't run out of juice with the Duracell battery it came with. I'm wondering how long the NiMH batteries will last (they allow my digital camera to take 4x more pictures than with regular batteries).

I'd recommend the RIO to everyone who wants better than tape quality sound on the go. When I listen to the RIO I feel like i'm listening to music thats coming out of thin air. Going from one track to the next is instantaneous. It is so far superior over CD players where there is obvious skipping and you need to wait for the laser to point when you choose another track, or tapes where you hear that lousy hiss and have to rewind and fast-forward to find a track.
