Matt, Trey, Harry, Dave & all

Matt,

<who said that Bell would necessarily market their commercial customers the same as their residential?>

None that I can recall. It is still my understanding that Bell intends to use sdl for this but if adsl is ready before then one may not need sdl depending on the need.

<The commerical guys may be forced to pay more regardless of the speed of residential service. Subsequently Bell wouldn't canabilize their high cost T-1s by selling ADSL into residences.>

Good point & Id guess this will depend on commercial customers need be it symmetric or asymmetric.

Trey,

<i dont see everyone dropping their t1 circuit in favor of an ADSL line.>

Agree, probably not everyone but in my case 1.5 Adsl could replace the T1 simply due to cost as I don't need it both ways but its possible @ a later date. Something to consider.

<at any rate, the market for consumer ADSL service is much larger than the T1 market. PLUS, there arent the QOS concerns inherent in a leased line.>

Good points its going to be interesting to see if MZ will give us the take rates he spoke of.

<in all seriousness though, i think it has more to do with the fact that SBC has been bleeding its home area for years to fuel its expansion out of the area.>

Pretty hard to believe these mergers would go through but I haven't seen much of an outcry. Did you see on Cnn today BA in talks w/ Airtouch.

I was just kiding about the 3 in 1. Maybe when Neal is done celebrating he can answer. Great showing today Neal. Your jackets looked pretty good.

Harry,

Trey asked the voice question & for the most part Bell is using Westell modems. Someone on SI is fortunate enough to be using Bell adsl in one of the areas Bell now services.

<i.e., watching, say, CNBC financial news while browsing newsgroups and websites>

I don't remember as well but don't think so. Anyone?

<Is this the famous "January effect"?>

I noticed the same thing. Good to see someone up on this puppy. Its still too early to tell but someone was buying after someone dumping the day before. Thanks for clearing up the pricing issue.

Dave,

<I would have thought MM'ers would have driven us to 3's on low volume>

Someone set a pretty good position & stopped right around 4.25 not to long ago. It also appears that a bigger player is playing the range game as well. Not sure what to think here but I also thought we might break 4. Yesterday gave us the closest thing to a white bozo that Ive seen in a looooong time.

<Thread is awfully quiet...even for holiday...over the past couple of years, that has been a bullish trend.>

In the past that has been some what of an indicator but I know that many have dumped positions while taking huge losses in this one.
