Or perhaps I am not making myself clear. And for that I apologize.

Let me ask you this -- are you suggesting that most INDEX (i.e. NOT funds where managers pick the stocks to invest) managers are NOT compensated based upon the total amount of assets held in their fund? Or are you simply saying that Index funds are generally all part of large fund families? In either event, if a fund continues underperforming it will lose business (or not attract new business) -- despite your contention that "somebody has their money in them." Tell me, would you give your money to a manger whose fund has lost 20% of his capital every year for 5 years? How long would YOU wait for it to turn around?
