For the sports fan, this is a really neat capability. I'm not a couch potato, but I can see where this will go. Imagine being able to interact with others, via the internet, about a live game. Man! Compete with others to see who carries the ball, who get a reception, when the next touchdown will happen, etc. Go out to the GO.COM and see what the beta site looks like. Not too much different from what you get from most news sources on the net, but imagine this being on your TV screen.
I have a cousin, in his late 40's, who absolutely abhors computers, and cannot type. He got a cable internet box for Christmas from his girlfriend, and he can't put it down. His set-top system has an infrared keyboard and trackball, and he can use the cursor to select letters for writing, he can change channels, view the news, etc. from his lounge chair and send and receive Email. This may not be attractive to some of us who have been using computers and the internet for years, but for someone like my cousin, it is SUPER!
Disney is going places, and I hope you all are on the train. Looks like a good ride. As an aside, if Japan and the rest of Asia, along with Europe gets their act together this year, Disney is going to become a favorite as a theme park again, and you can watch the money roll in. I am in for the long-long term.
By the way, someone jumped in late on the last trading day and bought a block of 13,600 shares at 430 -- that's $408,000 in one chunk....a pretty good vote of confidence on where this stock is going. |
