Tony,

Great post, man! Thanks again.

1) I have some C-CUBE too. AXC is listed as a partner in the Friends and Partner section of CUBE's web site. Probably working on some kind of compression product. A unit of Time Warner is using C-Cube encoders and Ampex DCTs in the DVD mastering process.

2) I'm sure you've come across a fair amount of Sonys in the editing suite. Does Sony command the same premiums they get on the consumer side? Also, Sony is working with Seagate on some type of non-linear editor as part of some kind of digital post package. I think they're trying to use Seagate's 24 GB disk drives (5.25" form factor)in some kind of array to increase capacity. I am not sure.

3) Tektronix (Lightworks) and Scitex Digital Video are two other names I've come across when I was looking into non-linear editors stocks several months back.

By the way, my understanding is that film editors don't like to work with compressed images. Has compression developed to a point where it is acceptable now?

Gus
