50 MA vs. 200 MA. When do I use which?

First, thanks for the analysis, Darin.
The basic point is taken:
Vol. surge and breakthrus of MA indicate the trend...

But I have one trifiling question:
You mentioned breaking up through the 200ma as a buy,
but down through the 50ma as a sell.
When is it more 'standard' to use one over the other?
(Other than in backtesting to make it fit, haha!)
